"Zerzoom Email Replacement Sound"

If you have an email program, you've likely fallen victim to a boring
email sound at one time or another! That can be overcome, however, with
a new email replacement sound. The "Zerzoom" email sound is cool way to
announce the arrival of new mail. It is a hi-tech, low-frequency
"zooming" sound that whizzes through your speakers.

The sound can easily be used with later versions of Claris Emailer,
Eudora Pro, and others that allow the assignment of sound files as mail
notifiers. Other programs that don't have the option of assigning sounds
can still utilize this sound with the help of "Agent Audio," available
for download at the www.clixsounds.com.

The "Zerzoom" Email Sound is available in both stereo and mono versions
and can be downloaded here or at the Clixsounds WWW site at:

Subject: [*] BatteryAmnesia 1.5.1 released!

BatteryAmnesia 1.5.1 for PowerBooks

Author's email address: jbkezer@kagi.com

BatteryAmnesia is a utility for any PowerBook that uses a nickel-cadmium
(NiCad) or nickel-hydride (NiMH) battery. Over time, these batteries are
susceptible to a "memory effect", which can reduce their battery capacity.
The memory effect can be cured by fully discharging the battery before
recharging it.

BatteryAmnesia provides a safe, fast and automatic way to deep discharge
your PowerBook's battery. BatteryAmnesia bypasses the low battery warning
dialogs, and prevents the "soft" sleep brought on by those dialogs.
Instead, BatteryAmnesia will run your PowerBook's battery down until the
"hard" hardware shutdown occurs, which is at a lower voltage. This
provides the best discharge possible without an expensive external battery
conditioner.

Version 1.5.1 contains the following enhancements:
 - Displays informational message on compatibility with Li+ (PowerBook
2400, 3400) models.

Shareware; $10 registration fee suggested. See enclosed docs for more
information.

Subject: [*] Big Brother 2.0 Deluxe: a cute toy

NOTE: A smaller version of Big Brother, for people with less download time
is also available. This deluxe version is intended for CD-ROMs and for
people with more time to download. It includes five more sample brothers.
[I give my permission to include this version on the Info-Mac CD-ROM.]

Big Brother is a cute little toy you can download in only a couple of minutes.
It fills the screen with tiled pictures of a face; as you move the cursor
around, the images of the face all track the mouse. All you have to do is move
the mouse around the screen. The faster and farther you move it, the more fun
you'll have.

After Big Brother came Little Brother (naturally). Little Brother puts up a
single frame on the screen. It watches the mouse the same way, but the effect
is less interesting. The upside is that you can have a Little Brother in a
little corner of the screen all day, while you are doing other things.

Perhaps most interesting of all, you can create your own images and patterns
and insert them to make your own big or little brother! This is simple to do
with the included utility BrotherMaker.

This file, along with its smaller companion, replaces Big Brother 1.2.

Subject: [*] Cache Killer Pro 1.01 - the original Cache Killer and more!!!

Cache Killer Pro is an AppleScript script which deletes the web browser
caches for Netscape Navigator, Netscape Communicator, Cyberdog, America
Online, Internet Explorer, or any other browser you use! Not only will
Cache Killer Pro automatically detect and manage browser caches located in
their default locations, but it can be configured to manage any folder on
any volume! Cache Killer Pro can be setup to delete the disk caches
periodically or every time it is run.

Cache Killer Pro retains everything that made the original Cache Killer so
popular and incorporates powerful new features to make your browser cache
management easier than ever before!

- automatically detect the individual cache folders created by Netscape
Communicator
- delete up to ten additional browser cache folders in any location on any
volume
- manage any folder you choose, not just browser cache folders
- support for localized versions of the MacOS
- improved user-interface to guide you through the setup process

Cache Killer requires AppleScript, which is included with System 7.5 or later.

Version 1.01 fixes a problem with the Register application that caused Kagi
Shareware to incorrectly process payments.

Cache Killer Pro was created by Scott Harralson. Further information on
Cache Killer Pro can be found at http://web2.airmail.net/sdh/killerpro.

ClockSync II 1.0.3 (by Jeremy Kezer).

Author's email address: jbkezer@kagi.com

If you have two or more Macintoshes, you probably notice that the clocks
drift apart as time goes by. This can range from being a minor nuisance to
a problem, especially if you do a lot of synchronizing between the
Macintoshes. ClockSync II synchronizes the clocks between two or more
Macintoshes, by setting the clocks of the "Servant"Macintoshes to that of a
"Master" Macintosh.

ClockSync has two components. The ClockSync Master runs continuously on
the "Master" Macintosh, while the ClockSync Servant can be run on any other
Macintosh on the network to update its time.

All of my utilities can be registered through the Kagi shareware system.

Version 1.0.3 has the following enhancements:
 - Fixed bug that could cause empty dialog to display when launching Master.

Shareware; $5 for a 3-user license with larger licenses available.

Subject: [*] Count WWWebula CGI 1.4

Count WWWebula is a Macintosh CGI for use with Macintosh web servers. Right
now, that means either WebStar, Quid Pro Quo, NetPresenz, MacHTTP 2.2, or
Microsoft's Personal Web Server. A Plugin version is also available.
(READ: THIS IS *NOT* FOR UNIX MACHINES, NOR WILL IT RUN ON ANY UNIX
INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS' WEB SERVERS)

Count WWWebula CGI is a graphical access counter. It will display the
number of "hits" your web page has received in the form of a gif image.

Count WWWebula was created using Metrowerks C++ with Grant's CGI Framework
(with my PowerPlant extensions).

Count WWWebula is shareware. Commercial (and Government) entities need to
send me $25 dollars c/o Kagi Software per server running the counter, if
you are planning on using it (Please read the enclosed license agreement
for complete details). You can do this via the included "Register"
application. Individuals, educational institutions, and non-profit
organizations need not send in the registration fee, but if you choose to
you will get added technical support. (otherwise only limited
trouble-shooting will be available to you).

Please read the following for important changes in functionality!!!

Changes in Functionality:

* Stricter Rules On File/Folder Locations: (1.1.2 Plugin and 1.4 CGI)
No more ambiguity with font folder locations. They live in the 'Counter
Data Files' folder.

* Trailing Slash Stripped: (1.1.2 Plugin and 1.4 CGI)
For you ISPs out there, in the cases where your clients may get confused
over what to put for the arguments to the counter, it now automatically
strips off the trailing "/" from the arguments if one exists. Some ISPs
clients were doing the following:

<img src="http://someplace.com/counter.acgi$stuff/stuff/font=caliblu/width=4/">

Which is most definitely wrong. In these cases the counter automatically
wipes the slash from the end of the arguments. The resulting URL is as it
should be:

Subject: [*] CURLPushButton 2.3 - A PowerPlant Class

A Metrowerks PowerPlant inherited class geared towards helping your
application become Internet-savvy. It allows you to put clickable
buttons in places (e.g. your About box) that will look like a URL in a
web browser...click on the URL and go right to there! Great for listing
the web page for your software, the email address for contact/support,
the ftp site where users can get updates or whatever you want! You list
the text, they can see it, copy it down, whatever... and then just click
and visit it. VERY HANDY!! VERY COOL!!

The class is even set up that the text of the button can say one thing
but then still visit the URL. For example, the About Box displays your
name and you click on it and it visits your personal web page or
something. Point is, the button can list the URL text or not...it's a
flexible class.

There is a demonstration application included in the archive to help you
see how it works as well as help and tips for implimentation.
Furthermore there is a CPPb/CTYP file that you can use to aid in the
editing process (for use with Metrowerks Constructor).

Features: - Utilizes offscreen GWorlds for smooth scrolling of text. -
Uses text Handles for an amount of text limited only by available

Mac. It:
1) connects to Insider Software's server,
2) downloads a list of all the available updaters,
3) compares the list with the software on your hard drive, and,
4) downloads the updaters you need.

It can be set to launch on schedule and decompress the downloaded
updaters. It does not install the updaters or transmit any information
about your computer.

The free demonstration version updates all your Apple software including
the MacOS. You can register for $7 per month to update all your third
party (non Apple) Applications, Control Panels, Extensions, and Utilities.

Subject: [*] Language Toolkit Writer 1.2.2 - foreign languages learning

Here is the new version of the 'Language Toolkit Writer' application.

'Language Toolkit Writer' is an authoring tool for preparing interactive
multimedia lessons for any language. You build a lesson by
dragging-and-dropping ready-made components, pasting illustrations,
adding QuickTime Movies, sound, vocabulary, exercises based on text and
on sound, and notes on grammar. To save you time the program includes
four ready-made exercise layouts. Students use the companion program
'Language Toolkit Reader' to make use of the lessons. An associated
program ('Verbs & Nouns') allows an author to prepare additional modules
to support a series of lessons, i.e. for use as dictionaries and for
practising inflection and translation at the level of single words.
Demonstration lessons are available for Polish, Danish, Italian, Dutch
and Russian, and others are in preparation.

Subject: [*] Music Collection Deluxe 2.1a (FileMaker Pro 3.x)

**** Now unregistered users can add up to 25 records without a password! ****

Finally it's here: a truly relational music-collection database.

Music Collection Deluxe 2.1a is an intuitive, robust database designed to
help you track your growing music collection.

Similar databases overlook your cassette and LP collection and the fact that
some titles include more than one compact disc -- these are some of the
unique features of Music Collection Deluxe 2.1a.

Now unregistered users can add up to 25 records without a password. When an
unregistered user attempts to add a 26th record, a message appears,
encouraging the user to pay the shareware fee. (Previous unregistered
versions only allowed the editing of records -- no adding or deleting.)

Added fields for song lyrics (after many requests), music author, lyrics
author, song producer, arrangements and copyright information.

Improved the exclusive artist "Sort Order" feature (see details below) to
provide feedback of how the artist/group will be sorted.

Miscellaneous interface improvements.

Shareware. See the included registration database.

Subject: [*] QuickNote 1.11

Have you ever needed to jot down a note quickly and be able to easily
find it later? Ever wanted to copy a selection of text while web
browsing for later reading without copying and pasting between
applications or saving the text to a file? QuickNote can do these things
and more at the touch of a key (which will instantly bring up a text
editor) without having to leave the application you are in!

Of course, you'll be able to hit another key at any time that will bring
up a list of all your notes, which you can edit, delete, search, replace,
print and move from category to category (create as many categories as
you like) with ease! QuickNote lets you do all standard text editing
including changing fonts, styles, sizes, color, etc. Another extremely
handy feature allows you to select text from any note and have QuickNote
automatically paste the text directly into any text document you are
working on.

New features added in version 1.1:
Color Menu, support for Internet config & ICeTEe, smart quotes, fixed
Kaleidoscope bug with scroll bar, replace all, can now drag over menu
titles, several bug fixes and added many new PlugIns (Capitalize
Sentences, Capitalize Words, Convert %Hex [e.g., %09 = Tab], Convert CRs
to CR/LFs, Convert CRs to LFs, Convert LFs to CRs, Convert spaces to 1
space, Make lowercase, Make Smart Quotes, Make Smart Quotes Dumb, Make
UPPERCASE, Phone Letters to Numbers, Phone Number Dialer, Strip <html
tags>, Strip Control Characters, Strip CR/LFs, Strip CRs, Strip Leading
Spaces & Strip LFs)!

Some uses for QuickNote:
* bring up a text editor instantly with one keypress!
* copy selected text from any application with one key stroke and store
it for later reading or editing
* keep an on-line journal of daily activities
* keep a To Do list
* keep commonly used text clippings to be able to paste into any

Please note that Propellerhead Software are the
author of ReBirth RB-338. I am merely submitting it to the archive.

A description of ReBirth RB-338, from Propellerheads web site
(http://www.propellerheads.se/products/rebirth.html) <-- more info & Audio
Samples

"What is this thing?

Believe the unbelievable. Silver box. Blinking LEDs. Knobs to twiddle.
And a sound like nothing else on this planet. If you're into techno,
trance, ambient, hardcore... you know exactly what we're talking about.
For those sweeping, hypnotic basslines you simply must have the sound of
a 303 in your arsenal of sonic weapons. Easier said than done, though.
It's been out of production for well over a decade. Those still in
existence are collector's items. They'll cost you an arm and a leg.
Which, of course, has opened a market for products recreating those
classic sounds. But so far, the magic of the real thing has been lacking
somehow.

What we ask of you is faith. Propellerhead Software proudly presents:
ReBirth RB-338! Two 303s and one 808. All the quirks and subtle
qualities of the real thing are there. With full MIDI and sync
capabilities. No cables, no boxes... all you need is a Mac or a PC. Yes,
ReBirth is a software recreation of these two classic pieces of analog
hardware. And the best one the world has seen so far. Do you believe the
unbelievable now?"

System requirements:

* Power Macintosh
* 16 Megabytes of RAM
* System 7.5.3 or later
* 16 bit audio
* Sound Manager 3.2

Sloop is a MacOS extension that implements a unique window navigation
strategy: cursor focusing. With cursor focusing, whatever window or
application the mouse is over comes to the foreground without the need to
click the mouse button. Sloop increases productivity, may reduce some
repetitive strain, is customizable, stable, and small. Sloop requires MacOS
7.1 or higher, comes in separate versions for 680x0 Macs and PowerMacs, and
is also available in several languages.

WHAT'S NEW IN 1.0.2v2

This version corrects a cosmetic bug when Kaleidoscope was not installed and
some other minor problems.

WHAT'S NEW IN 1.0.2

Sloop now recognizes MacOS 8 Appearence-savvy applications as well as the
MacOS 8 Finder. All Sloop users who plan to upgrade to MacOS 8 should also
upgrade to Sloop 1.0.2. RAM requirements for the version 1.0.2 "Sloop Sail"
are almost half of what they were in previous versions. The user interface
now uses Kaleidoscope background colors if you have Kaleidoscope installed.

In addition, the full source code for Quadratic's beta "PopApp" extension is

Abstract:

The WASTE Object Handlers are a companion to Marco Piovanelli's WASTE
text engine. They require WASTE to work, and WASTE can be found at:
<http://rhino.harvard.edu/dan/waste.html>. This C code library gives
"drop and play" functionality to your WASTE-based projects to allow
you to handle objects such as PICT's, sounds, HFS/file objects in your
